GUEST BOOK
WHAT's NEW
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

What's new on this web page?

If you see the date changing on this page, without an announcement in this section, it is probably something like fixing minor coding problems, spelling errors, minor layout changes, new page on this site (so I changed bottom index), put a comment in the guest book (please let me know if you want your e-mail address posted)

... Any major changes to this page, will be announced here.

July 18, 2005. I just noticed that the ezBoard message board that I had set up for this web site had been deleted. Since restoration of the deleted conference is only available to subscribers to their service, and since the activity was relatively light, I not planning on looking for another message board. If you do think a message board is worth while, or you have a message board that you like, let me know and I may promote it here. As always you can contact me here.

March 10, 2001. It looks like I may have been premature in moving to a new web hosting site. I just found out that whenever Tripod.com is having hardware or software problems with their servers, they put up a message for the webmaster that their site is in violation of terms, and the web site has been deleted (instead of a message about system problems and try again later). Anyway, I believed Tripod.com when they said they deleted my account, so I will be moving, and making chromeoxide.com my new home on the web.

March 10, 2001. As long as I am moving my entire site, I decided to make a few changes to the layout of the individual pages, and the web site in general, including (but not limited to) I removed the counter, and moved the listings of mirror sites to the bottom of the page, ...

March 6, 2001. Sometime between March 1 to March 5, 2001 Tripod deleted my account/web site. The last stats Tripod gave me were 9,000+ visitors per month. Since my site is so popular, I have decided to keep it going, in spite of this major setback. But rather than trying to build up another free web site, and possibly deal with this problem again, I decided go with CommandLine.net to host the new chromeoxide.com.

October 31, 2000. The new Chrome Oxide Music Collectors Pages Message Board is provided by EZBoard.

GUEST BOOK
INTRO:
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

I started the Chrome Oxide Music site back in the middle of 1997. At the time, I used the Tripod Guest Book. When Tripod removed me from their site, I lost access to their guest book. Fortunately, I had a recent copy of the Guest Book. So, I reformatted the comments from the Guest Book to fit the style of my web site, and all the old comments are now preserved for posterity on this page.

Activity has never been very high in the guest book, so I haven't decided wether to put in a Guest Book. So, until I decide, if you are interested in having a comment on display in a Guest Book on this site, just e-mail me, and let me know, and I will put it online here.

put a comment in the guest book (please let me know if you want your e-mail address posted)

I am also interested in getting wider exposure for this site. So links from your site to mine would be appreciated. And if you know of any sites that allow/encourage submission, I would also appreciate knowing about them as well.

Do you have any other band that you would like to see a page for on this site?

Please send to:

Hey all :) I have a question, for anyone who may know the answer, pertaining to a lyric from "For What It's Worth". "Mostly say horay for our side". This lyric has always seemed rather strange to me. Having listened to Stephen for many years, and having somewhat of a feel for his music, this lyric doesn't seem right. I am curious to know if there was an original lyric that may have been changed to appease a censor panel. If anyone has information about this, please post it in this message room. Thank you muchly, and long may you run :)

Is it me or is there a conspiracy preventing us to have a CD of "In My Own Dream"? IMHO, certainly an album to keep in mind as a period when Bloomfield left and Bishop picked up the ax and then, got himself countrified...
So is the anthology CD worthwhile? It looks good to me..

I am sorry that I do not know where I can be reached by e - mail yet. I am not that computer literate. I wanted to write to ask you if you are aware that after jeremy spencer flipped out, and joined a religious cult, he put out a record with said cult. mick fleetwood himself mentions this in his biography, but I don't even think that he has it. It is called Jeremy Spencer and the Children's Assembly of God. I found it one day, and it is quite good, despite the brainwashing lyrics. I'll check back, and if anyone is interested I'll write back with an address that I can be reached at.

Bruce Palmer never sang in Buffalo Springfield- he just played the bass- so credits for the first two albums should be corrected. On the other hand, Jim Messina (who replaced Palmer for Last Time Around) sings the lead on Carefree Country Day and backups on Kind Woman, so he SHOULD be credited with vocals and bass, which he isn't.

His music seems to be comming from a secrete place were only he can capture it and make it real for all to enjoy. Subject: ~Fleetwood Mac~ a new believer

First--I must admit that for the longest time I have written off Fleetwood Mac as a band that I had absolutely no interest in hearing more of ( my familiarity was with the 80's radio Fleetwood Mac ). Although my oppinion began to change about 6 months ago when I heard some early F.Mac on "Kidd Squidds's Mystery Jukebox". I couldn't honestly tell you what song it was, all I know is that it was from the late sixties and it kicked ass! At that point I realized that I may have been a bit hastey in my judgement of the band/name Fleetwood Mac.

Last week I came across "Kiln House" while I was diggin' through the records ( yes, actual 12 in. LP's ) at one of my local thrift stores. I almost put it back, but I took a second look at it. I saw that it was released in "70 and it wasn't the line up that I was familiar with. So I bought it . I brought it home, threw it on and was completely blown away. I have a new respect for F. Mac.

I started serching

What more can be said about the living legend? I've caught all his tours since '72 and always am in awe while he's playing. I pick up my guitar and manage to figue out those wild riffs, and some are too elusive. Others sound so far out there, but when you find them on your guitar they;re so simple. That's a part of Jeff's musical genius. Right up there next to JB is Peter Green. In my humble opinion THEE BEST WHITE BLUES GUITARIST AND VOCALIST on either side of the Atlantic.Saw him for the first time ever at the Long Beach Blues Fest California, and o.k. he's not like before, but thank the lord he's out of his mental funk. How about rehabilitating Danny Kirwan? RIP Jimi, Rory, and Mike Bloomfield. Care to chat about these cool string strokers?

I have heard many of the performances that Mick taylor did with John Mayall from 1982 to 1984. I am just amazed at how Mick Taylor ripped almost everyone of his solos to shreds. That material which I heard had some of the best guitar playing I have heard Mick Taylor do. And he has a lot of "best guitar playing" because he is a fantastic guitarist.

Any guitarist who has also heard any of this material should know what I mean. I have been playing a long, long time, and that Mick Taylor Music that I am talking about really does make playing and listening so much fun. I cannot get enough of playing, and I cannot get enough of listening to Mick Taylor and his dancing guitar.

The "Re-Union Tour" release is nothing compared to what I heard. That release is not even from The Wax Museum '82. I heard both shows from The Wax Museum in '82, and nothing from those shows is on that release. Mick's playing was completely different as well. "Have You Heard" is from

I was going to a concert. The Gang of Four, San Francisco must have been 1981 or 82. Arrived a little early to be greeted by some really strange band. I was there to see the Gang on their first USA tour. This guy was singing in a raincoat along with a drum machine and band members. Wow they were really strange and wonderful. I stayed for the set never knowing who it was. Never did find out until later when I read a review of the concert in the local rag. It was Wall of Voodoo. I told my buddy about the concert. This was the same cat who turned me onto Flipper and the Dead Kennedy's. He looked at me as if. You never heard of Stan Ridgeway? He lent me two tapes and I was sold. I played those tapes until they screamed for a break. I never did see the band again, either band. Moved back to the Big Apple and got into the Ramones. Well thats my Wall story. I suppose I should tell you that was the first concert that I ever went to strait, the Wall concert. When a group

Dear Folks who also love the music of the Blues Project. My brother turned me on to them in the 60's. I remember getting the album "Projections" for Christmas, maybe in 69 at age 16. I always loved the sound of Al Kooper and Steve Katz and company. Flute Thing, Steve's Song and Cheryl's Going Home are my favorites. Especially the first two. Words can't even describe how beautiful they are. With all the garbage being released in the name of music, It makes me hang on to my roots even tighter. It makes us appreciate the music we grew up with even more. I also loved Child Is Father To The Man by the original Blood, Sweat and Tears with Mr. Al Kooper and was Mr. Steve Katz with that band also? I don't have the copy anymore. I recall all this from memory. Also, I attended the first Woodstock and have had great music flowing through my veins all these years. So, I would love to hear feedback from some other folks who also love the music we speak of here. I'm from Connecticut originally, where I first started hearing these awesome bands. Now, in Northern California, because of circumstances, I don't have the opportunity these days to meet with other lovers of the great music of the 60's as often as I'd like. So feel free to send me some positive feedback!

Hello,

I'm enjoying your exhaustive web site & will surely be back from time to time. I arrived via a Google search for Blodwyn Pig.

I'm going through my vinyl & picking old favorites to digitize and the two Pig albums made the cut. I was surprised to see that 'Getting To This' still had the sealed plastic cover. That means I knew the music from an 8-track, whereabouts unknown. Grudgingly, I cut through the 34-year-old plastic & played it once (I Want My Mp3).

Are you, or anyone you might know, interested in the 2 albums?

Thanks for your hard work on the site, it's very enjoyable and a good resource.

Subject: Blodwyn Pig

Thank you so much for straightening me out on the various Blodwyn Pig releases! It's amazing that a band with only 2 (initial) albums, ends up with at least 3 different versions in some cases.

I'm one of those weirdoes that, without trying, has this ability (curse?) of memorizing the track order of albums with just a few listens. I used to have both "Ahead Rings Out" and "Getting to This" on vinyl, but have no clue what happened to the latter, as I still have "Ahead".

In a couple interviews with Joe Perry, Steven Tyler and Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith, one of the statements was "... without Blodwyn Pig, there wouldn't be a fu**ing Aerosmith!" This was in relation to Napster, et al, and the fact there was music "out there" that couldn't be had anywhere else. I'd almost forgotten about Blodwyn Pig, and especially Mick Abrahams' influence on my own guitar playing, including his work with Jethro Tull, on "This Was".

They got me going, and after a brief "google" or two, found I could get the 2 albums on CD. Or, so it seemed. Like I said, I still had this image of them in my mind, and there were songs missing, added, or both. The latter seems to be the case here.

I'm listening to the CD version of "Ahead" and something's very wrong. So, I dig out the vinyl, and find that there's no "Walk on the Water", "See My Way" or "Summer Day", the latter 2 being my 2 favorites. ARGH! And what's with this "Sing Me a Song That I Know", "Up and Coming", and "Leave it With Me"?

All fine songs, to be sure, but certainly *not* from "Ahead Rings Out". Or, at least not the one I was familiar with. Then, I noticed "See My Way" as track 3 on the "Getting to This" CD. I'm thinking, "What the f**k is going on here, is this guy (Abrahams) blown away from too much party, or what?"

And what I downloaded from CDDB on my PC was even wackier, as whomever entered it had no clue of the original songs. And there's no mention of "Walk on Water" or "Summer Day" on the CD jacket! ARGH, again!

Now that you've straightened me out, I've gone ahead and straightened out the CDDB entries, and hope no one puts back the stuff that cows excrete!

Oh yeah, after you finish carving this up, if you with to put my e-mail in, please use "tjwags@bigfoot.com", as any irate "Piggies" can be filtered out easier, at the mail forwarding source. ;-) You could mention the Web site below, too, if you wish.

                                          Thanks again,

hi there -
i was going thru my record collection not 15 min ago and i came across my Blues Project lps. and i thought i wonder if anybody on the web has done something for this lost band. and lo and behold...there you were. i must say i'm surprised and happy somebody knows about this band.
i have the cafe a gogo album. i always wondered when this came out since the year of the release is not on the jacket. i also have what it would seem you consider reunion lps, Lazarus and Blues Project from '72. i bought all three from a used record store in glendale called platyrpus records for about 3.99 each at the same time. lazarus and blues project are both pretty good records i think.
anyway thanks for the site. you should do a complete discography of the band since you started a good thing. make it great!!!

thanks again ;))

Hi,

loved the site ' cos I'm a great fan of PG. I only saw PGs FM once. It was 1967 or 68 at Brunel University, Acton, London. I can't find this gig in the sessionography tho it might be the 4 Oct 1967 gig.

Subject: Dick Heckstall-Smith - Colosseum

I was looking for Colosseum-related stuff on the web, and found your info very useful.

In the light of the sad demise of the one and only Dick Heckstall-Smith, I thought I would like to post a tribute to him on the guest book.

My first experience of Colosseum was playing "Live" (1971) through the high-powered PA of my student union disco equipment, and being so blown away by the power and skill on display that I decided to throw all my records out of the window, as I had found the only record that I ever needed! Maybe just as well that I sobered up before going through with it!

Other folk may have found, like me, that the more they listen to these guys, the greater their appreciation became...whatever happened to power, passion and virtuosity in music?

Dick's playing will always be with us, though we will miss the man himself.

Thanks for everything,

Brian

Back in October 1999 I put up links to CD-Now so that visitors could easily link to the related band pages and instantly see which items were still in print/available for purchase. CD-Now no longer has that option. For the moment I am putting in Amazon.com search boxes. Amazon.com doesn't easily allow for links to individual band pages in the same way that CD-Now used to. So, instead of me being able to create direct links, I have put up the Amazon.com search box instead. So you can still go to a page with the various bands products, buy you now need to go through a search box.

As always, let me know what you think.
