What possible excuse could an author give for doing an unanounced book signing at a bar where bands are playing and there is an admission charge?
The short answer is none. :-)
The long answer is:
I've spent a lot of time over the last twenty years recording surf instrumental bands. (You can read about it here.) Recently I've been writing and editing my stories at shows. Normally when I'm recording the bands, I'm also selling their merchandise. Since I'd already planned on attending, recording and selling band merchandise, I figured it wouldn't take much extra effort to setup a display for my first published book 28 Minutes Into The Future, available in various eBook formats as well as a print version.
I thought about it and decided I had nothing to lose. Even if I don't sell any books (and lets face it, most people going to live shows aren't planning on buying books), this is a way to let everyone know that when they see me hunched over and scribbling, that I am serious about writng and have progressed from a hopeful beginner to a professional writer.
